Using Flashcards Strategy to improve Students’ Understanding on Present Continuous Tense at the Second Grade of SMPs Leboea

This research was designed to Using Flashcards Strategy to improve Students’ Understanding on Present Continuous Tense at the Second Grade of SMPs Leboea. The research questions “Can flashcards improve students’ understanding on present continuous tense at the second grade of SMPS Leboea?”

The design of this research was Collaborative Classroom Action Research which was processed by setting up planning, implementation, observing, analyzing and reflecting. This study was conducted in two cycles. Each cycles contained four meetings.

The findings of this research show that flashcards strategy could improve the students’ grammar comprehension. (1) pre cycle 50; (2) cycle I 69,02 improve 83,60 in cycle II; (3) students’ observation cycle I 68,57 and cycle II improved 97,14; (4) teacher’ observation cycle I 82  and cycle II 98.

Finally, it is recommended for the English teachers to apply flashcards strategy as one of the alternatives that could be used understanding on present continuous tense.

Improving the Students’ Reading Comprehension through Reading News Strategy at the Second grade of Smk Negeri 1 Kolaka

The research was designed to improve the students’ reading comprehension through reading news strategy at the second grade of SMK Negeri 1 Kolaka. The question of the research was “How can reading news strategy improve the students’ reading comprehension at the second grade of SMK Negeri 1 Kolaka?”.The objective of the research was to find out information whether reading news strategy can improve the students’ reading comprehension at the second year of SMK Negeri 1 Kolaka. The scope of the research was focused on teaching and learning reading through reading news strategy to improve students’ reading comprehension at the second grade of SMK Negeri 1 Kolaka. The significances of the research were giving information’s for English teacher and the students to improve their English Reading comprehension through reading news strategy.

The design of this research was Collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR). It means that, in conducting the research, the researcher collaborated with one of the English teachers of SMK Negeri 1 Kolaka. The subject of this research was class XI Tata Busana of SMK Negeri 1 Kolaka. This research was conducted in two cycles which consist of preliminary research, planning, implementing, observing, analyzing and reflecting. The result of the research showed that reading news strategy can improve the students’ reading comprehension.

The improvement can be seen from two aspects. Firstly, in the term of product, the improvement could be examined from the result of reading test. In the first cycle, the average value was 69 or 5 of 16 students (31%) achieved value equal or greater than KKM (75) and it improved become 84 or 13 of 16 students (81%) achieved value equal or greater than KKM (75) in the second cycle. Secondly, in the term of process, the students were actively involved during the teaching and learning process. It could be proved from the result of the observation sheet of the students was 6 in the first cycle and it improved become 12 in the second cycle. In observation sheet of the teacher in the first cycle was 55 and it improved become 59 in the second cycle. Both the students and teacher were actively involved in teaching and learning process.

Improving the Students’ Writing Ability by using Textless Comic at the First Grade of MAN 2 Kolaka

This research designed to improve the ability of students  in writing by using Textless Comic at the first grade of MAN 2 Kolaka. The problem of research was “ How can textless comic improve the students’ writing ability at the first grade of MAN 2 Kolaka?”.The objective of this research was to describe the improvement students’ writing ability by using textless comic of MAN 2 Kolaka. The significance of the research was expected to give valuable contribution for the teachers and the students. The teacher can enrich knowledge on the use of various approach in teaching English, and to be able to apply Textless Comic as one of media in teaching writing. The scope  of the research was focused on writing narrative text. The design of the research a collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR). It means that the researcher collaborated with the real English teacher of MAN 2 Kolaka. The subject of this s research was the first grade IPA 2 of 2016/2017 academic year. And the setting of this research was MAN 2 Kolaka. The research was conducted in two cycles. And the instruments of this research were writing test. Referring to the finding of this research, the result showed that textless comic could improved the students’ writing ability at the first grade of MAN 2 Kolaka. The improvement could be seen from the result of writing test. The average value of writing test in the cycle I was 67,7. There were 7 of 22 or 31% students achieved more than equal 70. It improved in the cycle II become 79,3. There were 21 0f 22 or 95% students’ achieved the Minimal Passing Grade Criteria. The conclusion of the research, that textless comic can improve the students’ writing ability, especially in writing narrative text. Both students and the teacher were active in teaching and learning process.

            Design of this research was a collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR). In means that the applying of this research, the researcher collaborated with one of classroom English teacher at the school.This research aimed at describing the students’ vocabulary mastery through Synectic Comparison Strategy at the seventh grade of MTsS Baitul Arqom Polinggona. This research referenced to the spiral model which was procedured by setting up preliminary research, planning, implementing (action), observing, analyzing, and reflecting. This research was conducted for students in academic year 2015/2016 especially in class VIIB. The number students in this class were 21 students. This research was conducted in two cycles.

Data was collected through vocabulary test and observation sheets. The result of the cycle one showed the students only reached average 50.7 There were 3 of  21 students or 14.28% got the score greater than or equal to 66.And the observation result of the students’ activitieswas 3,5means”poor”   in first meeting, became4,0 means   “poor” , in the second meeting and 6,5 (average) in the third meeting.

Meanwhile in the second cycle, the average of the students’ value was 62.8 there were 16 of 21 students or 76,1% got the greater than or equal to 66. The average of students’ observation sheet  was 7,5  means ’average’in the first meeting,became 8,5 means  “average”  in the second meetingand improved became 9,8 means  “good”  in  the third meeting.So it can be concluded that synectic comparison strategy can improve the students’ vocabulary mastery at the seventhgrade ofMTsS Baitul Arqom Polinggona.

This present study was primarily aimed to find out that using pictures can improve the students’ vocabulary mastery at the first grade of SMP Negeri 1 Ladongi. The present study was intended to answer the following research question: How can pictures improve the students’ mastery in vocabulary at the first grade of SMP Negeri 1 Ladongi? This present study used a classroom action research. The subjects of this study were 7C class. The total numbers of the subjects were 38. Based on the result of the preliminary study, it showed that the subject’s vocabulary mastery was low and needed a help. The present classroom action research was then conducted to improve the subject’s vocabulary mastery by implementing pictures. The results of the tests in each cycle showed the subject’s scores progressed significantly. Furthermore, this research also showed the subject’s positive responses toward the use of pictures in teaching vocabulary. In conclusion, the present classroom action research had proven to find out that pictures can improve the students’ vocabulary mastery at the first grade of SMP Negeri 1 Ladongi.

This final project was an action research. In this research, researcher limit the discussion by stating the following research question: “How can Beyond Centers and Beyond Circle Time Method (BCCT) improve the students` vocabulary mastery at the eight grade students of SMP N 1 Lasusua in each cycle?. It was expected that the result of the research can enrich the teacher’s strategy in teaching vocabulary through Beyond Centers and Circle Time (BCCT) especially for secondary school students.

The subject of the research was the students of students of SMP N 1 Lasusua in the Academic Year 2015/2016. There were 25 students. There were three steps in this action research. The first step of the activity was the interview. The second step of the activity was action which consisted of four activities.

The design of the research was collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR). It means that when implementing the research, the researcher collaborated with one of the English teachers of SMP N 1 Lasusua. The research was conducted in two cycles consisted of preliminary research, planning, implementing, observing and data analysis and reflection. The data of the research was obtained from the result of observation sheet and from vocabulary test, which were taken during the implementation of the action.

Based on the data analysis, it can be seen that there is significant difference in the result of the students’ pre-test and post-test. The average achievement of the students’ first cycle was 24% and 88% in the second cycle. The main factor affecting this improvement was the students’ interest in the Centers and Circle Time given. It can be proved from the results.

Therefore, it can be suggested that the use of Beyond Centers and Circle Time can be an alternative way to teach vocabulary, especially to improve the students’ mastery in vocabulary. This result hopefully would motivate language teachers to use BCCT in teaching English in the classroom, especially when teaching English vocabulary to secondary school students.

   This thesis was designed to improve the students’ vocabulary mastery through gesture at the second grade of SMP Negeri 03 Poleang. Question of the research is “How does vocabulary mastery through gesture could improve the students ‘vocabulary mastery at the second grade of SMP Negeri 03 Poleang ?”. Objectives of the research is “ to describe data and information whether or not the use of gesture technique could improve the student vocabulary mastery trough gesture  of the second grade students’ of SMP Negeri 03 Poleang.

Significance of the research are : (1) for the teacher can use the vocabulary mastery through gesture, (2) for the students can use of vocabulary mastery trough gesture could make the student more enjoyable in doing their tasks associated with the gesture materials.

The design of this research was Collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR). It was intended to improve the students’ vocabulary mastery through gesture.

This research was conducted on, 2016 at the second grade of SMP Negeri 03 Poleang. Based on the result of this research it can be concluded that through gesture could improve the students’ vocabulary mastery at the second grade of SMP Negeri 03 Poleang. The improvement can be seen from two aspect, process and product. Firstly, in the form of process the students’ were actively involved in teaching and learning process. It can be seen from the result of the analysis of observation sheet in first cycle was, 2,14 and it belong to in the first cycle and it improved to be 3,8 and it belong to in the second cycle. Secondly, in form of product 14 students (53%) got to average 60 of vocabulary test in the first cycle and it improved to be 22 students (84%) got the score average 75 of vocabulary test in the second cycle. It means the result had achieved the criteria of success that was 80% the students got the average value equal or more 60.

Based on the finding of this research, it was suggested to English teacher to used gesture in teaching and learning process especially in teaching vocabulary.

This research was designed to Improvement the Students’ Reading Comprehension Through Numbered Heads Together (Nht) at the Second Grade of SMP Negeri 10 Poleang Selatan.

The design of this research was collaborative Classroom Action Research which was processed by setting up planning, implementation, observing, analyzing and reflecting. This study was conducted in two cycles. Each cycles contained four meetings.

The data of this research was obtained from the result of Recount text and observation sheets. They were taken during implementation of the action. The findings of this research show that Numbered Heads Together (NHT) Technique could improve Students’ Reading Comprehension. The improvement could be described as follow (1) the average score of cycle one were 40% improve 90%  in cycle two; (2) the result of observation sheet for students in cycle one were 3 (average) in meeting one, 42, 85 (average) in meeting two,  48, 57 (poor) in meeting three 57,14 and cycle two improve 62 (fair) in meeting one, 77 (good) in meeting two, and 85 (good) in meeting three; (4) while teacher activities result of cycle one were 50 (poor) in meeting one, 60 (fair) in meeting two, 68 (fair)  in meeting three and cycle two improve 70 (good) in meeting one, 80 (good) in meeting two and 82 (excellent) in meeting three.

Finally, it is recommended for the English teachers to apply Numbered Heads Together as one of the alternatives that could be used Reading Comprehension.

This research was designed to improve the students’ reading ability through STAD at the first grade of SMPN 1 Kolaka. The question of the study was “ How can STAD improve the students’ ability in reading comprehension at the first grade of SMP 1 Kolaka?”,  The object of the study was to found out Student Team Achievement Division can improve the students’ reading ability at the first grade ofSMP 1 Kolaka. The significance of the research were to get a good result of the students’ reading ability, and also to be an information to the English teacher in improving teaching and learning process. The scope of the research focused at the using Student Team Achievement Division method improved the students’ Reading ability at the first grade of SMPN 1 Kolaka, beside that the genre of the text was use as the material was descriptive. The design of the research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). It means that when implementing the research, the researcher collaborated with one of the English teachers of SMPN 1 Kolaka. The subject of the research was the students’ of the first grade (VII) of SMP 1 Kolaka academic 2016/2017. The researcher conducted the research in two cycles consisted of preliminary study, planning, implementing, observing, data analyzing and reflecting. The data of the research were obtained from the result reading test and from observation sheet, which were taken during the implementation of the action. In the form of the process, the students’ attitudes improved cycle to cycle as reflected from the result of observation. The student was actively involved during the teaching learning process. It could be proved the result of observation sheet for students’. In the first cycle the students’ average score was 2 means poor it improved to be 3 means good in the second cycle. Meanwhile, in the form product, the improvement could be seen form the result of reading test. In the first cycle the students’ average value was 60,8.  In other word 8 of 23 students’ (34%) reached the criteria of success that was 70 of the students’ got the average value of 60,8. It improved become in the second cycle, in other word, 20 of 23 students’ (87%) reached thecriteria of success that was 70 of the students got the average value of 72,3.

Improving Reading Comprehension through Guided Strategy of the Eighth Grade Students of SMP Negeri 2 Lasusua

This research was designed to improve the students’ reading comprehension through guided strategy at the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Lasusua. The researcher formulated a research question “How the guided strategy can improve reading comprehension of the eighth grade students of  SMP Negeri 2 Lasusua in year 2016 through Guided strategy?” in addition, the objective of the research was generally aimed to improve the students’ reading comprehension through guided strategy of the eighth grade student of SMPN 2 Lasusua. The scope of the research was focused on the learning reading narrative text comprehension through guided strategy.

The designed of the research was collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR). It means that when doing the research, the researcher collaborated withy the English teacher of SMPN 2 Lasusua. The subject of this research was class VIII A of SMPN 2 Lasusua in academic year of 2016/2017. This research was conducted in two cycle.

Based on the result of the research, it was found that guided strategy can improve students’ reading comprehension. The improvement were supported by some evidents. First, it could be seen from the improvement of the average students’ value which showed from preliminary research the students’ only reached average 50,78 or only 5 of 19 students or 26,31% got the score greater than or equel 66. Second, in the first cycle, the average of the students’ value was 67,31 were only 10 of 19 students or 52.63% got the score greater than oe equel to 66.

Meanwhile in the second cycle, the average value of the students’ reading comprehension through guided strategy become 76,05 there were 15 of 19 students’ or 78,94% got the greater or equel to 66. Third, the students were actively involved in the teaching and learning process. It can be seen from the result of analysis of observation sheet. So it can be conclude that guided strategy can improved the students’ reading comprehension of the eighth grade students’ of SMPN 2 Lasusua.
