Improving the Students’ Ability in Writing Descriptive Paragraph using Picture at the First Year of SMP Negeri 2 Dangia

The research question of this research is “How can picture improve the students’ ability in writing descriptive paragraph at the first year of SMP Negeri 2 Dangia ?”
The objective of this research was to describe the students’ ability in writing descriptive paragraph using picture.
The significance of this research was give a meaningful contribution to both students and teachers in teaching and learning process in general and particularly in teaching writing descriptive paragraph.
This research was designed to describe the way to improve the students’ ability in writing descriptive paragraph using picture at the first year of SMP Negeri 2 Dangia.
This research was collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR) with reference to the spiral model which was preceded by setting up plans, implementation, observation, analyzing and reflection. This research was conducted in two cycles.
The final test was conducted at the end of each cycle. The main focus of this research was about how to write descriptive paragraph using picture. The data were collected by asking the students to write descriptive paragraph at the end of each cycle. The paragraph were assessed and analyzed to evaluate the students’ ability in writing descriptive paragraphs. The result of the analysis in cycle one was 42 % there were 14 students unachieved 60 and 59 or 58% there were 19 of 33 students got score greater than or equal 60. This score increased 74 or 88% in the second cycle. There were 29 of 33 students got score greater than or equal 60. There were 12 % or 4 students unachieved 60. The criteria of success had achieved. So, the researcher was not continue to the next cycles.
