The Effect of Collaborative Learning Method towards the Students’ Reading Comprehension at the First Grade of Smp Negeri 1 Kolaka

            The purpose of this research was to find out the data and information about the effect of collaborative learning method towards the students’ reading comprehension at the grade year of SMP Negeri 1 Kolaka. The research question of the research was ‘is there any effect of using collaborative learning method toward students’ reading comprehension at the first grade of SMP Negeri 1 kolaka. The objective of the research was to find of the data and information whether or not there was an effect of collaborative learning method towards the students’ reading comprehension at the first grade of SMP Negeri 1 Kolaka. The significance of the research as follows: In theoretically and practically. The scope of the research was limited to find only to an effect of using collaborative learning method towards the students’ reading comprehension at the first grade of SMP Negeri 1 Kolaka. In this research, the research will focused in Descriptive text.

The design of the research was pre-experiment. It means that the research only compare the result of pre-test and post-test design in one class treatment. The sample of the research was class VIId of SMP Negeri 1 Kolaka consisted of 20 students. The research consists of two variables, dependent and independent variable. Dependent variable which symbolized (O1) was the students’ Reading comprehension, while independent variable which symbolized (O2) was the use of Collaborative learning to conduct this research, the research carried out some steps such as pre-test, treatment, and post-test.

Based on the result of the research it was found that the man score of pre test (51.8) was bigger than the mean score of post test (90476). Standard deviation of pre-test (1566626) was smaller than standard deviation of post-test (7.07127). it can be concluded that there is an effect of collaborative learning towards reading comprehension at the first grade of SMP Negeri 1 Kolaka.
