Improving the Students’ Writing Ability by using Textless Comic at the First Grade of MAN 2 Kolaka

This research designed to improve the ability of students in writing by using Textless Comic at the first grade of MAN 2 Kolaka. The problem of research was “ How can textless comic improve the students’ writing ability at the first grade of MAN 2 Kolaka?”.The objective of this research was to describe the improvement students’ writing ability by using textless comic of MAN 2 Kolaka. The significance of the research was expected to give valuable contribution for the teachers and the students. The teacher can enrich knowledge on the use of various approach in teaching English, and to be able to apply Textless Comic as one of media in teaching writing. The scope of the research was focused on writing narrative text. The design of the research a collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR). It means that the researcher collaborated with the real English teacher of MAN 2 Kolaka. The subject of this s research was the first grade IPA 2 of 2016/2017 academic year. And the setting of this research was MAN 2 Kolaka. The research was conducted in two cycles. And the instruments of this research were writing test. Referring to the finding of this research, the result showed that textless comic could improved the students’ writing ability at the first grade of MAN 2 Kolaka. The improvement could be seen from the result of writing test. The average value of writing test in the cycle I was 67,7. There were 7 of 22 or 31% students achieved more than equal 70. It improved in the cycle II become 79,3. There were 21 0f 22 or 95% students’ achieved the Minimal Passing Grade Criteria. The conclusion of the research, that textless comic can improve the students’ writing ability, especially in writing narrative text. Both students and the teacher were active in teaching and learning process.
