This final project was an action research. In this research, researcher limit the discussion by stating the following research question: “How can Beyond Centers and Beyond Circle Time Method (BCCT) improve the students` vocabulary mastery at the eight grade students of SMP N 1 Lasusua in each cycle?. It was expected that the result of the research can enrich the teacher’s strategy in teaching vocabulary through Beyond Centers and Circle Time (BCCT) especially for secondary school students.

The subject of the research was the students of students of SMP N 1 Lasusua in the Academic Year 2015/2016. There were 25 students. There were three steps in this action research. The first step of the activity was the interview. The second step of the activity was action which consisted of four activities.

The design of the research was collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR). It means that when implementing the research, the researcher collaborated with one of the English teachers of SMP N 1 Lasusua. The research was conducted in two cycles consisted of preliminary research, planning, implementing, observing and data analysis and reflection. The data of the research was obtained from the result of observation sheet and from vocabulary test, which were taken during the implementation of the action.

Based on the data analysis, it can be seen that there is significant difference in the result of the students’ pre-test and post-test. The average achievement of the students’ first cycle was 24% and 88% in the second cycle. The main factor affecting this improvement was the students’ interest in the Centers and Circle Time given. It can be proved from the results.

Therefore, it can be suggested that the use of Beyond Centers and Circle Time can be an alternative way to teach vocabulary, especially to improve the students’ mastery in vocabulary. This result hopefully would motivate language teachers to use BCCT in teaching English in the classroom, especially when teaching English vocabulary to secondary school students.
