Innovation of Computer-Based Learning Multimedia at English Study Program of Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Sembilanbelas November University of Kolaka

Abstract

Based on the preliminary research, the researcher was found that the students’ ability in English especially in Kolaka regency was low. To overcome the problem, needed the using of multimedia learning that more creative and innovative. So, the learning atmosphere more enjoyable and the student are not boring. The implementation of using computer-based learning multimedia as one strategy in English teaching that was proposed to improve the students’ ability in English. By this strategy, it was hoped can be improve the teaching quality continually and finally can improve the students’ competency in English. The specific objective of the research was to create the computer- based learning multimedia which creatively and innovative. To achieve the target, the researcher was using development method by Plompt (1997) which consist of five steps, they were; (1) preliminary investigation, (2) planning, (3) realization/construction, (4) test, evaluation, and revision, and (5) implementation. Next, to know the implementation result of computer-based learning multimedia, the research was conducted in Classroom Action Research (CAR) that adapted from Kemmis and Taggart (1998). By CAR, the researcher hope knowing the implementation and effectively of multimedia computer-based learning in improving the students’ English ability at English study program. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that in order to improve English ability of students, needs to be presented in the form of activities that are more creative and innovative. One was through the use of computer-based learning multimedia. This is done in order to provide a more attractive presentation of the material and relevant to the conditions and characteristics of the students.
