Improving Reading Ability to Understand the Contents of Exposition Authorship Reading in Students of Class X SMAN 1 Poli-Polia through Implementation of Cooperative Integrated Reading and Competition Model

This research is based on the low ability of the students of class X SMAN 1 Poli-Polia in understanding the content of reading, especially the reading of the exposition essay. Looking at these circumstances, researchers interested in conducting experimental research by applying the CIRC learning model. The method used in this study, the experimental method. The study population was 125 respondents from 4 classes, X1, X2, X3, and X4, while the sample was taken from class X1 as experiment class and X3 as control class. Based on the results of research implementation of Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model can improve the ability to understand the content of reading in the students of grade X SMA Negeri 1 Poli-Polia.
The result (prates) understand the contents of the exposition of the exposition obtained in the experimental class that 60% understand the contents of the text of the exposition of an exposition with an average of 60, while the results (posts) understand the contents of the text of the exposition of the student experiment class obtained 78.67% and increased to be successful with an average score of 78.67. Significant differences in understanding the content of expository reading between the test scores before and after the experimental lesson in the experimental class using the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model. Based on result of calculation of mean comparison by using t-test formula, obtained price t0,95 = 1,67 and price t0,99 = 2,39. Thus, t0 is greater than 1.67 <2.8> 2.39. Thus, the results of the analysis show that using Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model is an effort used in the learning process to improve students’ ability to understand the content reading exposition essay. Based on the results of the data taken from the questionnaire, the experimental class or X-1 students still experience some constraints from Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning, some of which are: 1) Students do not find it easier to understand the content of reading by using CIRC model, 2) Difficulty in picking up important points finished reading a reading, 3) Difficulty in understanding the content of group reading, 4) Difficulty in understanding the contents of reading, 5) Difficulty in having to conclude a reading, and 6) Understanding each reading it reads.
