Writing Poetry Skill of Class VII at SMP Negeri 1 Sampara, Konawe

This research is based on a view that writing poetry cannot be separated from human life especially students not only in the school environment but also in the environment outside the school in their daily life.

The problem in this research is “how is the ability to write poetry of class VII students of SMP Negeri 1 Sampara?”. The purpose of this study is to describe data and information about the ability to write poetry students of class VII SMP Negeri 1 Sampara. This research uses the quantitative descriptive method, the ie researcher trying to present reality or phenomenon found in the field objectively related with the ability to write poetry of class VII students of SMP Negeri 1 Sampara Sampara Sub-district Konawe Regency. The type of research is classroom research because of this research data obtained by direct involvement of researchers at the school where the research.

The population in the study is the overall class VII students SMP Negeri 1 Sampara academic year 2012/2013. Population spread in four classes namely class X1 (38 people), X2 (39 people), X3 (39 people), and class X4 (40 people). Based on the number of existing population, then the sampling is done by proportionate stratified random sampling technique that is the sampling based on the stratum of the student’s score so as to obtain the sample number 97 people.

Based on the results of data analysis shows that the ability to write poetry students of class VII SMP Negeri 1 Sampara classified as in not able especially for aspects of rhyme, rhythm and stanza, while for rhythm aspect included in the category capable because it has reached above 85%.
