Improving the Students’ Mathematics Learning Outcomes through Constructivism Model of Scaffolding Method on the Classroom Building of VIII Students of Mts Arrahimiyah

The type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) or Classroom Action Research. The purpose of this research is to improve mathematics learning result of students of private MTs Arrahimiyah through constructivism model of scaffolding method.
The problem formulation in this research is “whether the application of constructivism learning scaffolding method can improve mathematics learning result of students of private MTs Arrahimiyah?” The research was conducted in April 2017. The subjects in this study were the students of class VIII MTs Swasta Arrahimiyah Bombana Regency. This research is conducted in 2 cycles with the research procedure: (a) Conducting planning to carry out the learning process, (b) Implementing the action in accordance with the planning that has been made, (c) Conducting observation to the student and to the teacher during the action process, (d) Conduct evaluation / tests on students for each cycle, (e) Reflect and analyze shortcomings and weaknesses during cycle I to plan actions in cycle II.
The result of the research is the action of the cycle I, the students’ learning outcomes increase from the average score of the preliminary test before the action is 68, 05 to 74,4 or with 75% completion percentage that is 15 from 20 students get value ≥70, shows success in accordance with predetermined success indicators. And on the second cycle action, the results obtained are as many as 17 students get the value of ≥70 with an average value of 83.05 or with the percentage of 85%.
From the results of research on the action cycle I and cycle II can be concluded that the results of learning mathematics class VIII MTs Private Arrahimiyah Year Teaching 2016/2017 on basic competencies identify the characteristics of cubes and beams and determine the area and volume through the model of constructivism learning scaffolding method can be increased.
