**The Effectiveness of the Treffinger Learning Model on the Mathematical Connection Ability of the Seventh-Grade Students of SMP Negeri 05 East Poleang **

^{3}This research is based on the problem that is still used the teaching method where the teacher is still the learning centre so that the mathematical connection ability of the students is not good, the researcher offers the learning model which is considered able to improve students’ mathematical connection ability, that is *Treffinger* model. This study aims to determine the ability of Mathematical Connection between Students who were taught by Using Learning Model *Treffinger* with Conventional Learning Model in Grade VII Students SMP Negeri 05 East Poleang. This type of research is an experiment with Post-Test Design Only Control Design. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 05 East Poleang year 2016/2017 in class VII even semester. Based on the results of the descriptive analysis, the data of mathematical connection ability of students who taught by *Treffinger* model has the lowest value of 75, the highest value 100 with the average value of 77.2, standard deviation 6,7601, and the variance 45,7. Whereas the ability of mathematical connections of students who were taught with conventional models obtained had the lowest value of 35 with the highest score of 70 with an average of 42.7, standard deviation 4.88, and variance 23.867. Furthermore, the result of testing based on hypothesis testing by using t-test for two free samples (two-party manual test) obtained that: t_{count }= 51,339> t_{Table} = 1,943 at significance level α = 0,05 and dk = 46 Because t_{hitung}> t_{Tabel} or 51,339> 1,943 this means t_{hitung} is within the acceptance criteria of H1 thus H0 is rejected. For that, it can be concluded that the ability of mathematical connections of students who are taught by *Treffinger* learning model better than the ability of mathematical connections of students who were taught with conventional models.
