Improving Students’ Vocabulary Achievement Through Matching Word Game at the Eight Grade of SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua.

This research was designed to improvedstudents’ vocabulary achievement through matching word game at the eight grade of SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua. The research question of this “How can matching word game improve the students’ vocabulary achievement at the eight grade of SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua in each cycle?”.

The subject of this study was all students at class VIII D OF SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua who register in academic year 2016/2017 with the total number pf students are 23. The instruments of this study were vocabulary test (matching and multiple choice). The design of this research was Collaborative Classroom Action Research with reference and was proceded by setting up plans, implementation, observing, analyzing and reflecting. This study was conducted in each meeting. All meetings in first and second cycle were contained eight meetings, every cycle contained four meetings.

The data of this research was obtained from the result of vocabulary test and observation sheets. They were taken during implementation of the action. The findings of this research showed that using matching word game can improve students’ vocabulary achievement. The improvecould be described as follow: (1) The average score in first cycle 63,4 or 52,1%; (2) The average score in second cycle 76,7 0r 86,9%.

This researcher presented about enhancing the students’ reading comprehension through reciprocal teaching strategy at the second-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Watubangga. The question of this research was “how is the improvement of the students’ reading comprehension through reciprocal teaching strategy at the second-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Watubangga in each cycle?”. The objective of this research was to find out the data and information whether implementation reciprocal teaching strategy can improved the students’ reading comprehension at the second-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Watubangga. The scope of this research was focused on improving students’ reading comprehension at the second-grade students of class VIIIa in SMP Negeri 1 Watubangga through reciprocal teaching strategy. The material was focused on narrative text (a bear and a lion, the farmer and his buffalo, the wolf and the goat, the origin of pineapple, the donkey and his lapdog, and snow white and the seven dwarfs).

The design of this research was Collaborative Class Room Action Research (CAR). The subject of this research was the second-grade students and the sample were VIIIa. The data of this research was obtained from the result of reading test and the observation sheet.

The result of this research showed that reciprocal teaching strategy could improve the students’ achievement in reading comprehension at the second grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Watubangga. The improvements could be seen from the result of the students’ average score of the students’ reading achievement. In the first cycle the average score of the students’ achievement was 67.7, there were 15 of 20 students or (75%) students achieved the criteria of success. This score improved become 70.8 in the second cycle, there were 16 of 20 students or (80%) students achieved the criteria of success. Furthermore, the students were actively involved in learning process. It could be seen from the result of analysis observation sheets. The average score in the first cycle was 64,1, it was unsatisfied so improved in the second cycle become 85,5, it was categorized very good. Finally, it was concluded that the implementation of reciprocal teaching strategy as one alternative that could improve the students’ achievement in teaching and learning process.

The significances of the study could could gave information about the level of the students’ vocabulary mastery and the writer hopes the study that make humorous story technique in the teaching and learning vocabulary would be useful for the teachers, the students and the school.The design of the study, the writer was apply classroom action research design. It was intended to improve the students’ vocabulary mastery through humorous stories. The setting of this study was SMP N 19 Poleang Barat and the subject of the study was class VIII in academic year 2017/2018. This Study was conducted on July, 17th 2017 until August, 12th 2017, at the second grade of SMP N 19 Poleang Barat.The improvement of students’ vocabulary mastery could be seen from the first cycle after using humorous story to the students got 72,5. 44, in first cyle only 8 of18 students got score greater or equal 75, it is mean only 44,44% students suuccess in the first cyle In the second cycle the students ‘average score also found increase become 83,9, 44, in first cyle only 16 of 18 students got score greater or equal 75, it is mean only 88,88% students suuccess in the second cyle.

The objective of this research was to describe the iprovement of students’ vocabulary achievement through semantic mapping technique in each cycle at the first grade of SMPN 1 Watubangga.

The design of this research was Collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR) which was applied in order to improve te quality of learnig. It meant that in conducting this research, researcher acted as a teacher and the English teacher acted as an obsever. The subject of this research was first grade of students B class at SMPN 1 Watubangga, total of the students in this class was 24 students. The procedures of conducting this research were preliminary research, planning, implementing, observing, analyzing and reflecting.

The result of this research showed that semantic mapping technique could improve the students’ vocabulary achievement at the first grade students of SMPN 1 Watubangga. The data of this research was obtained from the result of vocabulary test and observation sheets. The improvement could be seen from the

first cycle of the students’ average score of the students’ vocabulary achievement. In this first cycle the average score of students’ achievement was 67,04, there were 13 of 24 students (54,16%) achieved the criteria of success. This score improved became 81.83 in the second cycle, there were 22 of 24 students (91,66%) achieved the criteria of success. Furthermore the students was actively involved in learning process. It could be seen from the result of analysis observation sheets. The average score in the first cycle 43,9, it was unsatisfied so improved in the second cycle become 62,4, it was categorized good. Finally, it was concluded that the implementation of semantic mapping technique as one of alternative that could improved the students’ achievement in teaching and learning process.

The purpose of this study was to find out the way that Questioning strategy can improve the students’ reading comprehension at the second grade of SMP Negeri 3 Kolaka. The problem of this study was “how can Questioning strategy improve the students’ reading comprehension at the second grade of SMP Negeri 3 Kolaka?”. The subject this thesis was class VIII D consist 20 students. This study applied Collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR), the writer collaborated with the English teacher of SMP Negeri 3 Kolaka. This writer was conducted in two cycles. There were four meetings in the cycle one and cycle two. The writer collected data by using study instruments, they were: reading test and observation sheets. The students’ observation sheet used an affective and psychomotor sheets.

The result of this study was found that the mean score of students’ reading test in first cycle was 68,75 and the percentage of students’ success was 55%. There were only 11 students of 20 students could get ≥70. This score improved to be 75,25 or there were 17 students of 20 students ≥70 and the percentage of students’ success was 85% in second cycle. Meanwhile, in the form of process, the students’ attitudes improved from time to time. It can be proved from the result of the observation sheet from students. The students’ affective score in first cycle were 40% students got the category of very good improved to be 85% students got category of very good   in the second cycle. The students’ psychomotor score in the first cycle were 20% students got the category of very good improved to be 70% students got the category of very good in second cycle. It can be concluded that the implementation of Questioning strategy could improve the students’ reading comprehension at the second grade of SMP Negeri

This research was conducted to answer the research question “How can Realia improve the students’ vocabulary mastery at the second grade of SMP Negeri 2 Baula?”. The objective of this research was to describe the improvement of students’ vocabulary mastery through realia in each cycle at the second grade of SMPN 2 Baula.

The design of this research was Collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR) which applied in order to improve the quality of learning. Furthermore, in conducting this research, researcher collaborated with one of the English teachers at the school. The subject of this research was second grade of students at SMPN

2 Baula, total of the students in this class were 37 students. The procedures of conducting this research were preliminary research, planning, implementing, observing, analyzing and reflecting.

The result of this research showed that realia could improve the students’

achievement in vocabulary mastery at the second grade students of SMPN 2

Baula. The data of this research was obtained from the result of vocabulary test and observation sheets. The improvements could be seen from the first cycle of the students’ average score of the students’ vocabulary achievement. In the first cycle the average score of students’ achievement was 65, 45. There were 17 of 37 students or 45, 94% achieved the criteria of success. This score improved to be

83, 81. There were 34 of 37 students or 91, 89% achieved the criteria of success. Furthermore the students were actively involved in learning process. Finally, it was concluded that the implementation of realia as one of alternative that could improved the students’ achievement in teaching vocabulary.

This   research   was   designed   to improve students`   ability to   write descriptive paragraph text through picture series at eight grade of SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua. The research problem was “How can picture series technique improve students` ability to write descriptive paragraph text through picture series at eight grade of SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua?”. The objective of the research was to describe the improvement of students’ ability to write descriptive paragraph text through picture series at eight grade of SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua. The significances of the research were expected to give meaningful contribution for teachers and students of SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua and could be helpful information for the readers. The scope of the research was focused on the teaching of English emphasized on writing skill in terms of to write descriptive paragraph text through picture series at eight grade of SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua

The design of this research was collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR). It means that the researcher conducted the research in collaboration with one of the English teachers of SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua. It could be seen in the average score was 63, in the first cycle and there were only 14 students from 22 students got score greater than or equal to 65. This score increased to be 77 in the second cycle there were 17 from 22 students got score greater than or equal to 65. It means that this research was successful.

Reflecting to the findings and discussion of this research, the conclusion that was picture series technique can improve students` ability write descriptive paragraph text at eight grade of SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua and the researcher suggests some points. Firstly, picture technique is a strategy that can be employed in improving students` descriptive paragraph in writing . Secondly, the researcher suggests that English teacher can apply picture series as a technique that can be used in teaching English to all skills, especially writing.

This research was designed to improve the students’ vocabulary

achievement through pictures as media at the second grade of SMP Negeri 3

Kolaka. The problem of this research was “how can picture improve the students’ achievement on vocabulary at the second grade of SMP Negeri 3 Kolaka?”. The objective of this research was to describe the data and information whether picture can improve the students’ achievement on vocabulary at the second grade of SMP Negeri 3 Kolaka. Significance of the research to help the students to improve their vocabulary achievement, generate their idea was to be motivated to learn and to be used as a reference to teach by the teacher.

 

The designed of this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). It means that this research conducted collaborated with one of the English teacher of SMP Negeri 3 Kolaka. This research was conducted at the second grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Kolaka which was registered in 2017/2018 academic year. This reseach was conducted in two cycle by following the procedure of classroom action research such as: preliminary of the research, planning, implementing, observing, analyzing and reflecting. The data were collected by vocabulary test and observation sheet which took during the implementation of the action.

 

The result of this research showed that the implementation of pictures in teaching and learning of vocabulary could improve the students vocabulary achievement. It could be seen from the average score of students improvement. In the first cycle, there were only 11 students of 23 students got score ≥ 72. Thus, the mean score was 64,47 and the percentage of students was 47,82%. In the second cycle, the mean score improved to be 77,96 and percentage of students was

78,26%.There were 18 of 23 students got score ≥ 72. Then, the result of observation sheet for the students that in the first cycle was 42,2% improved to be

68,16% in the second cycle.

This research conducted about the effect of silent demonstration method toward students’ speaking ability at the first grade of SMA Negeri 2 Kolaka. The research question of this research was there any effect of silent demonstration method towards students’ speaking ability at the first grade of SMA Negeri 2

Kolaka? The objective of this research was to found out the effects of silent demonstration method, the data and information about students’ speaking ability at the first grade of SMA Negeri 2 Kolaka. The scope of this research was focused on the teaching of speaking by silent demonstration method. The material applied procedure text. The review of related literature consisted of some previous researches, the concept of speaking, the concept of procedure text, the concept of silent demonstration method, and theoretical framework. The design of this research was one group pre-test and post-test design. Based on purposive sampling this research consist of two variables, they were independent variable was silent demonstration method and dependent variable was the students’ speaking ability. The sample of this research was class X1 who was registered in

2016/2017 academic year and consisted 18 students. The instruments of this research were speaking test and audio recording. Data collection techniques in this research were giving pre-test, treatment, and post-test. To analyze the data, the researcher used technique of data analysis about scoring technique and significant differences, it used to test the hypothesis. Based on the result of this research it was found that the mean score of pre-test (2,73) was smaller than the mean score of post-test (2,94) it means that the improvement of the students’ speaking ability was 5,25% (0,21) and the value of       (4,565) was bigger than          (2,110) at the significant level 0,05 and degree of freedom (Df) –17, it means that       was rejected and       was accepted. It could conclude that there was an effect of silent demonstration method towards students’ speaking ability at the first grade of SMA Negeri 2 Kolaka.
