Improving Students’ Vocabulary Achievement Through Matching Word Game at the Eight Grade of SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua.
This research was designed to improvedstudents’ vocabulary achievement through matching word game at the eight grade of SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua. The research question of this “How can matching word game improve the students’ vocabulary achievement at the eight grade of SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua in each cycle?”.
The subject of this study was all students at class VIII D OF SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua who register in academic year 2016/2017 with the total number pf students are 23. The instruments of this study were vocabulary test (matching and multiple choice). The design of this research was Collaborative Classroom Action Research with reference and was proceded by setting up plans, implementation, observing, analyzing and reflecting. This study was conducted in each meeting. All meetings in first and second cycle were contained eight meetings, every cycle contained four meetings.
The data of this research was obtained from the result of vocabulary test and observation sheets. They were taken during implementation of the action. The findings of this research showed that using matching word game can improve students’ vocabulary achievement. The improvecould be described as follow: (1) The average score in first cycle 63,4 or 52,1%; (2) The average score in second cycle 76,7 0r 86,9%.
