Avoidance and Over use in Indonesian Language Usage of Children Whose Have Balinese Language as Mother Tongue

Abstract

The use of Indonesian by children whose have Balinese mother tongue, especially for children living in the village, is fairly difficult. This is because the Balinese language mastered much different from the Indonesian newly learned. The language transfer will take place from Bali to the Indonesian language. This study aimed to describe two phenomena of the transfer, they are avoidance and the over use. The research data was obtained from the recordings and field notes. The results showed that there are indeed avoidance and over-use in the Indonesian language use by children whose have Baliness mother tongue.
