Improving Students` ability to Write Paragraph Descriptive Text through Picture Series at Eight Grade of SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua

This   research   was   designed   to improve students`   ability to   write descriptive paragraph text through picture series at eight grade of SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua. The research problem was “How can picture series technique improve students` ability to write descriptive paragraph text through picture series at eight grade of SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua?”. The objective of the research was to describe the improvement of students’ ability to write descriptive paragraph text through picture series at eight grade of SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua. The significances of the research were expected to give meaningful contribution for teachers and students of SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua and could be helpful information for the readers. The scope of the research was focused on the teaching of English emphasized on writing skill in terms of to write descriptive paragraph text through picture series at eight grade of SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua

The design of this research was collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR). It means that the researcher conducted the research in collaboration with one of the English teachers of SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua. It could be seen in the average score was 63, in the first cycle and there were only 14 students from 22 students got score greater than or equal to 65. This score increased to be 77 in the second cycle there were 17 from 22 students got score greater than or equal to 65. It means that this research was successful.

Reflecting to the findings and discussion of this research, the conclusion that was picture series technique can improve students` ability write descriptive paragraph text at eight grade of SMP Negeri 1 Lasusua and the researcher suggests some points. Firstly, picture technique is a strategy that can be employed in improving students` descriptive paragraph in writing . Secondly, the researcher suggests that English teacher can apply picture series as a technique that can be used in teaching English to all skills, especially writing.
